PRP
What is PRP therapy?
Platelet rich plasma, or often termed as PRP , is concentrated blood plasma (composition of blood) that contains approximately five times the number of platelets found in normal circulating blood. Apart from red blood cells and white blood cells, our blood also contains cells known as platelets. The function of platelets is to promote healing and aid in the clotting of blood at the site of a wound. Platelets contain growth factors that promote regeneration of the cells in the body.
What are the uses of PRP therapy?
- It is used in hair loss therapy
- It is used in rejuvenation of face (vampire fascial)
- It is used in treatment of scars in association with dermarollers for stretch marks and acne scars
How is it performed?
Blood is drawn from the patient and is then spun in a centrifuge and the PRP is separated and removed from the rest of the blood. The separated PRP is injected into the desired area.
