What is vitiligo?
Vitiligo is a condition in which areas of skin lose their normal pigment and so become white. It is common, and affects about 1% of the world’s population.
What causes vitiligo?
The pigment that gives skin its normal colour is melanin: cells known as melanocytes make it. Due to unknown reasons, bodies own immune system destroys the melanocytes thereby giving white color to affected area.
What Are the Symptoms of Vitiligo?
White patches on the skin are the main sign of vitiligo. These patches are more common in areas where the skin is exposed to the sun. The patches may be on the hands, feet, arms, face, and lips.

Topical and oral medicines which arrest the spread of vitiligo, topical and oral medicines which stimulate repigmentation of white patches.
